The bilingual English and Khmer Primary School program at Kep International School is open to children who will be between the ages of 6 - 9 on August 20, 2018. The program has two separate levels, the Sunbears class and the Tigers class. Scroll down to the bottom of this page to view full class descriptions for each level.
Kindergarten KIS graduates will automatically be admitted to the program and will be given priority for enrollment to the program. New applicants to the program must be six (6) years old. Level placement is based on a combination of the child's age and the child's level of English reading abilities. Contact us today to register your child for the 2018-19 school year. Students attend the program for a full day of learning from 7:55 a.m. to 3 p.m. This full day of learning includes opening and closing assemblies, two snack breaks, playtime, and a lunch break. |
Sunbears ClassThe Sunbears class is for children who are ages 6 – 8 and it corresponds to a combined 1 – 2 grade class. The class is focused on providing a rich learning environment where students develop literacy and numeracy skills in English and Khmer. In addition, the class is focused on holistic development and includes elements of science, technology, fine arts, and history. Each term includes 40 units of instruction and each unit is equivalent to approximately 40 minutes of instruction weekly. The language of instruction is English with the exception of the Khmer and Cambodian Classical Dance classes, for which the language of instruction is Khmer.

Tigers Class
The Tigers class is for children who are ages 7 – 9 and it corresponds to a 2 - 3 grade class including second grade students who have advanced English reading skills. The class is focused on developing independent learning skills, study skills, advanced English literacy skills, advanced Khmer literacy skills, mathematics, and holistic development through engaging elective classes. Each term includes 40 units of instruction and each unit is equivalent to approximately 40 minutes of instruction weekly. The language of instruction is English with the exception of the Khmer and Cambodian Classical Dance classes, for which the language of instruction is Khmer.
